# ❄️ Cold Open — Moodoo Veeshahyalu
## *Three Things*
*5 panels · engine: **Kicha's camera***
> ⭐ **Shot entirely as Kicha's footage** — handheld, slightly low, the frame tilting when he moves. **This is the only cold open in the series filmed from inside the camera**, and it makes the reader complicit before a word of the episode is spoken.
C.1 *Handheld. A door swinging open into **Anudeep's store-room** at nine in the morning. Anudeep on the mattress, awake, entirely unamused, looking directly into the lens.*
Keecha *(behind camera, presenter voice)*: Hi friends. Ee roju manam **ir(a)vai-okka sanvatsarala magavaadu** ki kavalasina **moodu vishayalu** chuddam.
Anudeep Rey.
C.2 *The camera swings around the store-room, uninvited.*
Keecha *(o.s.)*: Okati — **prashantamaina gadhi.**
*(The frame passes Suraj's laundry, a bucket, three of Kicha's own shoes and a cricket bat that belongs to nobody.)*
C.3 *The camera swings to the bathroom door, which is shut, and holds on it for slightly too long.*
Keecha *(o.s.)*: Rendu — **prashantamaina…**
Anudeep *(off, flat)*: Cheppaku.
Keecha *(beat)* …nenu emi analedu.
Anudeep Nuvvu **almost** annav.
C.4 *The doorbell.*
S.F.X: Ding
*The camera whips around so fast the frame smears.*
C.5 *The front door. A **delivery boy** holding out a bag. Kicha's hand comes into frame and takes it, and the camera tilts down into the bag, and there is steam coming off it.*
Keecha *(o.s., genuinely moved)*: …**moodu.**
Keecha *(o.s.)*: Friends. Idi **vedi ga** undi.
*(⭐ It is the only one of the three that this flat has ever achieved, and it arrived from outside, and it cost extra.)*

# ▸ Act One — Setup · panels 1 to 16
## Page One
**1.** *The flat, morning. The floor. **The delivered breakfast**, opened out across newspaper — idli, vada, three chutneys, one of which nobody ordered.*
*Kicha, Anudeep and Suraj around it. The camera propped against the pickle tumbler, still running, because he has not switched it off since the cold open and will not switch it off all episode.*
**2.** *Nobody talks for one panel. Everyone eats. **It is genuinely, uncomplicatedly nice**, and the art should say so.*
**3.** *And Suraj, mouth full, opens the conversation that costs the whole day.*
Suraj Adi nijam kaadu ra. Ee age lo manaki **moodu vishayalu** avasaram ledu.
Keecha Manaki entha kavali?
Suraj Naalugu.
**4.** *He puts down a vada to count on his fingers, which means this is serious.*
Suraj Job. Bike. **Sontha gadhi.**
Anudeep Adi moodu.
Suraj *(without pausing)* Naalugu.
---
## Page Two
**5.** *Kicha stops chewing.*
Keecha Naalugo di enti.
**6.** *Suraj does not answer. He picks the vada back up. **He does not have to answer**, because everybody at this newspaper knows what the fourth one is and two of them are pretending they don't.*
**7.** *Beat. Anudeep, reaching for chutney, entirely uninterested, states it as a fact about other people:*
Anudeep Girlfriend.
Suraj *(pointing the vada at him)* **Adi.**
**8.** *And Kicha — who has been quiet for four panels, which never happens — puts his plate down.*
*(⭐ **This is the panel the episode starts from.** He is not joining a joke. He has been waiting for somebody else to say the word first.)*
## Page Three
**9.** *Kicha corners him at the coffee station. Low, fast, and — for the first time in the series — not performing.*
Keecha Suraj. Serious ga adugutunna. **Girlfriend kavali ra.** Ela?
**10.** *Suraj freezes. Turns. A spotlight practically switches on behind him. He has waited his entire life for Kicha specifically to ask him this.*
Suraj …inko sari cheppu.
Keecha Rendo sari cheppanu.
Suraj Cheppu ra. Okka sari.
**11.** *Three fingers. Chalkboard energy. Deadly serious.*
Suraj Three acts. Prati love story ki three acts untai. Act one — **presence.** Act two — **tension.** Act three— *(pause)* —**exit line.**
**12.** *Kicha pulls out the notebook to write it down. Suraj visibly ages.*
Keecha Aagu. Act one, presence — bullet points unnaya?
Suraj Idi ila ardham kaadu le ra. **Notes tho premalu raavu.**
Suraj Demo chesta. Rehearsal.
---
## Page Four
**13.** *Suraj pulls a dupatta off the drying line and puts it on. Not comically. **Committedly.** He sits, arranges himself, and becomes a completely different person.*
Suraj *(in character, flat)*: Sare. Nenu ammayi ni. Raa.
**14.** *Kicha stares. He was not prepared for how good this is going to be.*
Keecha …enti idi.
Suraj *(in character)*: Enti ante?
**15.** Attempt One. Kicha approaches. Spine like a filing cabinet. He is not flirting; he is filing a report.*
Keecha Hello. Nenu Karthik. Ee colony lo ne untanu. Second building.
Keecha Naaku camera undi.
**16.** *Suraj drops character instantly and becomes a furious director.*
Suraj Camera aa? Modati line lo **camera** aa?!
Keecha Adi naa personality—
Suraj Adi nee **threat** ra!
---
---
# ▸ Act Two — Escalation · panels 17 to 40
## Page Five
**17.** Attempt Two. Suraj back in character. Kicha resets, rolls his shoulders.*
Keecha Hi.
Suraj *(in character, bored)*: Hi.
**18.** *Silence. Four full seconds of it, drawn as one wide empty panel with two people in it.*
**19.** *Suraj breaks character without moving his body, so it reads as though the girl is dubbing over herself.*
Suraj Ippudu **nuvvu** matladali ra.
Keecha Nenu "hi" anna kada!
Suraj "Hi" oka door ra. Door theesi lopala vellali. Nuvvu door daggara nilabadi **salute** chesthunnav.
**20.** *Kicha writes* Hi = Door *in the notebook. Suraj puts his face in his hands, dupatta and all.*
---
## Page Six
**21.** Attempt Three. And Kicha is out of material. He is standing in front of a man in a dupatta with nothing left.*
*And **Bujji** — Aishwarya's cat, who lives half in this flat and pays no rent in either — walks into the middle of the scene and sits down.*
**22.** *Kicha seizes it the way a drowning man seizes a plank.*
Keecha Aa **doggo** naa life ra.
Suraj *(dropping character for one word)*: Adi pilli.
Keecha *(not breaking)* **Naa life.**
**23.** *Suraj goes back into character. Because that, however stupid, is a man saying something with his whole chest, and that is the entire lesson.*
Suraj *(in character)*: …daani peru?
Keecha Bujji.
Suraj *(in character)*: Manchi peru.
**24.** *And Kicha — sensing, for the first time all morning, that something is working — pushes it one line too far, the way he always does.*
Keecha Nuvvu kavalante naa **life** ni share cheskovachu.
Keecha *(beat, hearing himself)* …naa **doggo** ni.
*(⭐ **It works anyway.** That is the joke. Suraj, in character, is visibly won over, and the room can feel it.)*
---
## Page Seven
*the Interruption — and it arrives from the most boring possible direction.*
**25.** ⭐ **the Specs Come Off.** *The kitchen. Anudeep over a pan of something with the lid off — and his glasses fog completely, in one panel, edge to edge.*
*He takes them off, wipes them on a shirt he is not wearing, gives up, and **hooks them into his collar.***
*He picks up a bunch of leafy greens and walks out into the room, and from this panel until panel 50 **he cannot see a single face in it.***
*He walks straight into the middle of a scene he cannot see and asks Suraj — who is in a dupatta, in character, mid-romance — a question about vegetables.*
Anudeep Rey. Idi **thota kura** aa? Fridge lo pedathama, bayata pedathama?
**26.** *Dead stop. Kicha's arms go out.*
Keecha Rah Nenu **madhyalo** unnanu—
**27.** *And Suraj does not break character. Suraj takes the bunch of greens out of Anudeep's hand, tucks it into the crook of his arm **like a bouquet**, and turns back to Kicha.*
**28.** *He is now holding thota kura like roses and he has never been more serious in his life.*
Suraj *(in character, sweetly)*: Chudu Kicha. Naa venuka **chala mandi** unnaru.
Suraj Roju **poolu** thecchevaallu unnaru.
---
## Page Eight
**29.** *And Anudeep — who came in here about a fridge — understands the assignment instantly, and it is the first sign of what this episode is actually about.*
*He goes back to the kitchen. He comes back with **a second bunch.***
**30.**
Anudeep Nenu **inko kattha** thesukoccha.
Suraj *(in character, delighted)*: Chusava?
Anudeep Chepthe **roju** thesthanu.
**31.** *It goes. Both of them, fully committed, at maximum volume, over a man in a dupatta holding two bunches of spinach.*
Suraj Cheppu ra. Cheppu.
Anudeep **Sare ana.**
Suraj **Sare!**
*Suraj throws both hands up. The greens go everywhere. Somebody's cat leaves the room.*
**32.** *And Kicha is standing three feet away with nothing in his hands, having done everything right, watching his own lesson get taken off him by a man who came in to ask about a fridge.*
Keecha …idi naa scene ra.
*Nobody hears him. He walks out of frame.*
---
## Page Nine
**33.** *Kicha on the balcony, arms folded, back to the room. Genuinely, disproportionately wounded.*
**34.** ***Aishwarya** comes over the railing behind him and clocks the entire situation in one second without being told any of it.*
Aishwarya Evaru chesaru.
**35.** *She says it exactly like an elder sister at a school gate — flat, bored, already rolling her sleeves up.*
Aishwarya Naa **thammudi** ni evaru edipincharu.
Keecha *(muttering)* Nenu edavaledu.
Aishwarya Cheppu.
**36.**
Keecha Aa kurraadu naa **girlfriend** ni theesukunnadu.
*Beat.*
Aishwarya …nee **enti** ni?
Keecha Naa girlfriend.
Aishwarya Neeku girlfriend leda.
Keecha **Ade problem.**
---
## Page Ten
**37.** *The balcony. She has heard the whole thing and she does not comfort him even slightly.*
Aishwarya Aa kurraadu nee **girlfriend** ni theesukunnada?
Keecha Haan.
Aishwarya *(flat)* Neeku girlfriend **ledu** kada ra.
**38.** *Close on Kicha. That went in further than she meant it to and she watches it land.*
Keecha …thanks.
**39.** *She turns and goes inside **at speed**, sleeves already going up, in the specific fury of an elder sister who is allowed to hurt him and nobody else is.*
Aishwarya Em anaru ra vaadini—
**40.** *And she stops in the doorway.*
*Because across the room, **Anudeep is handing Suraj a bunch of leafy greens**, and Suraj is receiving them like a bouquet at an award ceremony, and neither of them has noticed her.*
---
---
# ▸ Act Three — Turn · panels 41 to 52
## Page Eleven
**41.** *She does not ask what is happening. **She improvises into it**, from the doorway, without breaking stride — because the fastest way into a scene is to walk into it already talking.*
Aishwarya Mari **sangathi** enti?
Aishwarya Maa **thammudi** sangathi enti??
**42.** *And Anudeep — who has been in this game for four minutes and has never had a lesson in his life — answers before anybody can stop him.*
Anudeep Naa kosam **emma roju** ikkade untadi.
Anudeep Nuvvu? Nuvvu **aa rail dooki vellipotav** kada.
**43.** *Beat. Kicha's mouth opens. Suraj lowers the greens.*
*And Aishwarya — who has never in her life declined a return of serve — does not decline it.*
Aishwarya **Nee kosam ye kada** roju vachhedi!
**44.** *Wide. Two people in the middle of a room going at each other over a man in a dupatta, and the two witnesses have stopped being an audience and become **spectators**, which is a different and much more dangerous thing.*
> ### 🎨 Art Instruction — the first P.O.V inset
> *One small inset panel, unlabelled, cut into the corner of this wide: **Aishwarya's view of him.** No glasses. Head slightly tilted back. Looking straight at her and not blinking.*
greater than
> *What is actually happening: **he is looking two feet to her left and cannot resolve her face.** Draw the inset as she sees it. **Do not draw the truth in the same panel.***
Suraj *(very quietly, to Kicha)*: …idi inka rehearsal ye kada?
Keecha *(not blinking)* Teliyadu ra.
---
## Page Twelve
**45.** *Anudeep puts Suraj down mid-sentence and crosses the room to her.*
**46.** ⭐ **the Panel.** *He **bends down** to her eye level — close, unhurried, holding the bunch of greens up between them.*
*⭐ **He does this because he cannot see the leaf.** He has needed to be within about eight inches of it since panel 25 and this is simply where his face has ended up.*
*And **Aishwarya has nowhere to go.***
> ### 🎨 Art Instruction
> *Draw this as the tightest two-shot in the series so far — closer than anything in Eps 1 to 5, and **do not signal that it is a joke.** No comedy lines, no sweat drops, no reaction icons. **Play the frame completely straight**, because that is exactly what happens to her: the room stops being a game for about one second and she is the only person it stops for.*
greater than
> *She is not swooning. **She is caught, and she is warm, and she cannot make it stop happening on her face.***
greater than
> ⭐ Second P.O.V Inset, immediately after — the counter-shot the reader gets and she does not:** the same moment from the side. **He is squinting.** Slightly cross-eyed with effort. Focused entirely on a leaf.
greater than
> *Two panels, two truths, no caption reconciling them. That gap is the whole episode.*
**47.** *And Anudeep, from four inches away, in the same flat helpful voice he has used all afternoon, asks:*
Anudeep Idi **thotakura** aa? **Palakura** aa?
**48.** Pull Wide — and reveal the corner of the room.*
***Muddamma.** Standing there. Vessel on her hip. Waiting. She has been waiting the entire time.*
Anudeep Muddamma adigi **chala sepu** ayindi.
*(⭐ **He was never in the scene.** He walked in about vegetables, he stayed about vegetables, and every single line he has said this afternoon has been about vegetables. **Only one person in the room misread it and she is standing four inches from him.**)*
---
## Page Thirteen
**49.** *The room detonates. Suraj on his back in the greens. Kicha screaming, having entirely forgotten he was the injured party three minutes ago. Muddamma takes the bunch out of Anudeep's hand without a word and walks off with it.*
**50.** ⭐ and he Puts the Glasses Back on.**
*One panel. The squint goes. The posture goes. The chin comes down.*
*He looks around a room he can suddenly see — five people, a dupatta, a floor covered in spinach — and reverts instantly and completely to the man from panel 3.*
Anudeep …emaindi?
*(⭐ **The transformation runs backwards in a single frame.** The reader laughs. **She doesn't.**)*
**51.** *And Aishwarya laughs.*
*Too loud. Half a beat late. Hand up, head back, the whole performance — **and it is a completely genuine laugh**, which is what makes it work as cover.*
**52.** ⭐ *The laugh is over and hers takes about a second longer to leave her face than everybody else's.*
*She straightens a bag strap that does not need straightening. She looks at the door. She does not go through it.*
*(⭐ **Nothing in this episode names what just happened, and nothing in the next six returns to it.** She will spend Eps 7 to 11 being exactly as sharp with him as she has always been, and the reader will not be able to tell whether they imagined this page.)*
*And **Jay**, in the balcony doorway with a coffee, **not laughing.** Not disapproving. Just looking at Aishwarya for slightly longer than the joke requires, and then going back inside.*
*(**Do not explain this panel. Not in Ep 9, not ever.**)*
---
---
# ▸ Act Four — Landing · panels 53 to 64
## Page Fourteen
**53.** *Evening. The five of them walking down to Kopitam. Ordinary. Loud. Aishwarya at the back of the group instead of the middle, for the first time in six episodes, and nobody has noticed.*
**54.** *Anudeep at the edge of the frame, half a step behind everyone.*
Caption (Anudeep): Idi temporary.
Caption (Anudeep): …idi temporary kada?
**55.** Kopeetam. The bench, the fixed order. **Mallesh anna** at the counter, not looking up. **Ravi anna** crossing with four glasses in one hand.*
**56.** *And Kicha stops dead with his glass halfway to his mouth.*
*Two tables away: **a girl**, alone, phone down, waiting for someone to take her order.*
*Kicha puts the glass down with the calm of a man whose entire day has been leading to this.*
Keecha Boys.
Keecha **Morning training use chese time vachindi.**
Keecha Choodandi.
---
## Page Fifteen
**57.** *He stands. He adjusts the sunglasses he is wearing indoors at night. He begins the walk.*
*Behind him, on the bench, four people going completely silent in the way people do when they are about to watch something happen to somebody they love.*
**58.** *He is four steps out.*
*And **Ravi anna** — moving, as always, faster than anybody and looking at nobody — **cuts across his line** and reaches the table first, order pad already out.*
**59.** *Kicha arrives.*
*And he arrives **standing beside Ravi anna**, in front of a table, at a restaurant, in the exact posture of a man who works there.*
**60.** *The girl looks up at Kicha. Entirely pleasant. Entirely without malice. And says the sentence.*
Girl Anna, **table okasari clean chestara?**
*Ravi anna does not react. Ravi anna has been doing this for twenty years and continues writing.*
---
## Page Sixteen
**61.** *Wide, from across the room. Kicha standing at a table with a cloth that somebody has now handed him.*
*And on the bench, forty feet away — **four people completely destroyed.** Suraj face-down on the table. Anudeep with a hand over his mouth, shoulders going. Aishwarya laughing properly, freely, for the first time since page twelve, which is the only good thing about the whole business.*
**62.** *Kicha comes back. Sits down. Does not speak.*
**63.** ⭐ Cheebee *Full panel, and it is the only chibi panel in the episode: **Kicha, tiny, enormous head, sunglasses askew, weeping like a fountain**, still holding the cloth.*
Keecha Mundu **sarigga ready** avali ani cheppali kada ra meeru!
Suraj *(crying, not chibi, no help at all)* Nuvvu **sunglasses** pettukunnav ra—
Keecha Adi NAA Personality
Suraj Adi Nee Uniform Rah
**64.** *Wide. The bench. The fixed order. Five people at Kopitam at night, four of them laughing, one of them still weeping into a table cloth.*
Keecha Ee prapancham naaku **avakasham** ivvadu ra.
*And Aishwarya, without looking at him, pushing his glass back across the table:*
Aishwarya Ivvadu le. Thaagu.
Caption *(narration)*: Nobody got a girlfriend.
Caption *(narration)*: One of them got handed a cloth, which is the closest anybody came.
---
## End of Episode 6
*(Ends warm-comic. No end gag needed — **the last page is the gag**, and nothing should follow it.)*
