*5 panels · before the title · engine: **Padma Aunty at her window** — third and final use*
C.1 *The lane below C-block. Morning. The worn diagonal track in the dust where everyone walks around.*
C.2 *Anudeep comes down the lane, sees the track, and follows it without thinking. He has been here long enough.*
C.3 *Behind him, a delivery boy new to the colony walks straight down the middle.*
C.4 Sploosh
S.F.X: Sploosh
Padma Aunty (O.P.):** Mokkalaki time ki neellu posey— arey, evaru kindha?
C.5 *Anudeep doesn't turn around. He is already twenty steps past. He raises one hand in sympathy without looking back and keeps walking.*
Caption *(narration)*: Eight weeks. That was all it took to know where not to stand.

# ▸ Act One — Setup · panels 1 to 16
## Page One
**1.** *Boys H.Q, evening. The wide. And it is *full* — more people than the flat has ever held outside the festival. Suraj's colleagues. Two of Kicha's from the crime desk. Somebody's cousin. Aishwarya on the arm of the sofa.*
Caption *(narration)*: There was no occasion. That was the reason.
**2.** *Suraj in the middle of it, in his element, running the room like a small stadium.*
**3.** *Anudeep in the kitchen doorway, holding two plates, counting people, doing arithmetic he hasn't been asked for.*
**4.** *Aishwarya, next to him, following his eyeline:*
Aishwarya Nuvvu lekkisthunnav.
Anudeep Ledu.
Aishwarya **Padakondu.**
Anudeep …padkonda.
---
## Page Two
**5.** *Jay comes down the stairs from the penthouse, in his work clothes, on his way out to the shift. He stops at the bottom.*
**6.** *He looks at the room. The room does not look at him.*
**7.** *Suraj spots him and shouts across everything:*
Suraj Jay! Ra ra ra—
**Jay:** Shift undi.
Suraj Okka gante!
**Jay:** Shift undi ra.
**8.** *He goes. The door closes behind him. Suraj is already turned back to the room before it shuts.*
*(This panel is the entire episode. Nobody in it knows that.)*
---
## Page Three
**9.** *Eleven p.m. The noise, stage two. Music now. The wobbling fan taking the strain.*
**10.** *Kicha up on a chair filming the room, narrating, in his element.*
**11.** *Anudeep, quietly, to Suraj, in the kitchen:*
Anudeep Entha sepu?
Suraj Endhuku?
Anudeep Jay padakonda gantalaki vastadu.
Suraj Vaadu **padakonda** gantalaki vastadu, veellu **padakondu** gantalaki vellipotharu. Problem ledu ra.
**12.** *Anudeep accepts this because it is arithmetic and arithmetic is his language.*
---
## Page Four
**13.** *Midnight. Nobody has left.*
**14.** *One a.m. Two people have left. Four people have arrived.*
**15.** *Two a.m. Somebody has started cooking. In this house. At two in the morning.*
**16.** *Wide, crowded, tilted, overlapping. It is a genuinely lovely party and the flat has never been more alive. Draw it that way. **The reader should be enjoying it too.***
---
---
# ▸ Act Two — Escalation · panels 17 to 40
## Page Five
**17.** Cut — the night shift. A quiet room somewhere, screens, one man. Jay.*
**18.** *He does nothing for four panels. He works. He drinks something. He looks at a clock.*
**19.** *Close on the clock. 2:40.*
**20.** *Close on his face, lit by a screen. Awake, in the specific way of a man who is awake **on purpose**, and has been for three years.*
---
## Page Six
**21.** Cut — the flat. Three a.m. The party has entered its immortal phase. Somebody is teaching somebody a dance step. It is going badly and everyone is delighted.*
**22.** *Aishwarya, at the door, leaving:*
Aishwarya Nenu velthunna.
Suraj Inka time undi—
Aishwarya Suraj. **Moodu gantalu.**
**23.** *She stops at the door and looks back at the room for a moment. She does the arithmetic Anudeep did four hours ago, and she does it faster.*
**24.** *And she says the thing that she will think about for the next three days:*
Aishwarya Vaadu ochesari vasthadu.
Suraj Vaadiki parledu ra.
*She leaves. She did not push it. She will remember not pushing it.*
---
## Page Seven
**25.** *3:20. Anudeep on the balcony, out of the noise, on his own for the first time all night.*
**26.** *He looks up. The floor above. **Jay's penthouse.** Dark.*
**27.** *A small, still panel: through Jay's window, from below and outside — the sill. A frame on it, seen edge-on. A small brass incense holder beside it.*
*(Do not draw the photograph. Ever. Only ever the back of the frame, or the edge.)*
**28.** *Anudeep goes back inside because someone calls his name and it is a nice night.*
---
## Page Eight
**29.** *3:50. The noise, terminal stage. Somebody has found a steel plate and is using it as a drum. It is, objectively, brilliant.*
**30.** *Suraj conducting. Kicha filming. Twenty people in a flat built for four.*
**31.** *Wide. The lit window seen from the dark lane below — our recurring frame. Sound lines coming out of it. Two neighbours' lights on.*
**32.** *And a figure coming up the lane toward the building. Small. Alone. Off a shift.*
---
## Page Nine
**33.** *The stairwell. Jay coming up.*
**34.** *He stops on the landing below and listens.*
**35.** *He goes up.*
**36.** *He opens his own front door, one floor above, and the sound comes up through the floor as though the floor is not there.*
---
## Page Ten
**37.** *Inside the penthouse. Dark. Quiet, except it is not quiet, because the floor is a drum.*
**38.** *Jay stands in his own hall in the dark with his bag still on his shoulder.*
**39.** *He puts the bag down. He sits on the edge of the bed. He does not take his shoes off.*
**40.** *Four minutes. Draw four minutes.*

# ▸ Act Three — Turn · panels 41 to 52
## Page Eleven
**41.** *The door of Boys H.Q opens.*
**42.** *Jay in the doorway. Nobody notices for one full panel. The party continues around him.*
**43.** *Suraj sees him, delighted, arms open:*
Suraj Jay! Vachchav ra! Ra—
**44.** ⭐ the Panel.** *And Jay — who has not raised his voice once in nine episodes, who is drawn quiet in every frame he has ever been in — says it at full volume, and the flat stops.*
**Jay:** aapandi R.A.**
*Beat. Total silence — draw the silence as a change in the panel itself: the tilting stops, the overlapping stops, the frame goes square and still.*
**Jay:** Bayata prapancham antha noise ye. Nenu adi anukoledu.
**Jay:** **Ee okka chotu naaku nishabdam.**
---
## Page Twelve
From Here: wide, still, four panels a page, almost no S.F.X.*
**45.** *Twenty people, silent, in a flat. Somebody's steel plate lowered. The fan the only sound.*
**46.** *Suraj, frozen, arms still half up.*
**47.** ⭐ Spine Beat.** *Kicha, on the chair, camera up, out of nine episodes of pure reflex.*
*Jay looks straight at him.*
**Jay:** Aapu.
*And he lowers it. The only time anyone tells him to stop. The only time he does.*
**48.** *Jay turns and goes back up the stairs. He does not slam anything. The door upstairs closes with a click that everyone hears.*
---
## Page Thirteen
**49.** *The party is over in ninety seconds. People leaving fast, not looking at each other, in the way people leave after something.*
**50.** *Wide. The wrecked flat. Three people in it. Nobody speaking.*
**51.** *Kicha, camera down at his side, quietly, to nobody:*
Kicha Nenu vaadini enni sarlu film chesano ra.
Kicha Vaadu okka sari kuda vaddu analedu.
**52.** *Suraj picks up one plate. Then another. He starts to clean, alone, at half past four in the morning, and does not ask anyone to help him.*
*(**This is the Suraj↔Jay repair.** He does not apologise. He does not go upstairs. He cleans the house.)*

# ▸ Act Four — Landing · panels 53 to 64
## Page Fourteen
**53.** *The outside stairs. 4 45 AM Anudeep sitting on them, halfway between the two floors, because he could not think of anywhere to be.*
**54.** *Jay comes down and sits on the step beside him. He has changed out of his work clothes. He is holding two cups.*
**55.** *He gives Anudeep one. Neither of them says anything for a full panel.*
**56.** *And then Jay says it, into the lane, without any preamble at all, because it is nearly five in the morning and there is no one else awake.*
**Jay:** Naaku night shift enduku ani ekkado adigav kada. Podunna.
---
## Page Fifteen
**57.** *Wide, still, the two of them on the step, small in a big frame, the lane grey behind them.*
**Jay:** Moodu sanvatsaralu ayindi. Aame **break** kavali andi.
**Jay:** Enni rojulu ani cheppaledu.
**58.** *Close on Jay. Flat. Not performing grief. Just reporting.*
**Jay:** Modati nela nenu roju raatri melukune unna. Emo, vasthe?
**Jay:** Rendo nela nenu **shift** teesukunna. Melukune undadaniki oka reason kavali kada.
**59.** *One panel of nothing. Two men on a step. No dialogue at all.*
**60.** *And Jay finishes it, and it is nine words, and the episode does not go anywhere near them again.*
**Jay:** Ippudu aame raakapoyina — nenu melukune untanu.
---
## Page Sixteen
**61.** *Anudeep does not say anything comforting. He has nothing and he knows it. He drinks his coffee.*
*And he does not say the sentence. Not now, not at any point tonight. **Second consecutive omission. Do not flag it.***
**62.** *Jay stands, stretches, and goes back up. And at his own door he stops, and instead of closing it behind him—*
**63.** *—he leaves it open.*
*Wide, from the stairwell below: an open door on the top floor with the light on behind it, at five in the morning.*
*(Eight episodes ago this door was the plot. Nobody is going to remark on this and nobody ever does.)*
**64.** Final Wide. From the dark lane. The building. One window still lit on the second floor, where Suraj is still cleaning. One door open on the top floor. The sky going grey behind it.*
Caption *(narration)*: They never had a party in that flat again.
Caption *(narration)*: Nobody ever decided that. It just didn't happen.

## End of Episode 10
*(No end gag. Cold open only, and the episode ends on a feeling.)*

# 🎬 Post-Credit Stinger — Roster
*4 panels · not a joke*
S.1 *Days later. A noticeboard at Jay's workplace. The shift roster.*

S.4 *He puts the pen back in his pocket and walks away. The roster unchanged.*
*(Third appearance of this beat. Ep 3: thumb on Day, doesn't tap. Ep 10: pen hovers. **Ep 13: he signs it.**)*
