What information do we collect?

1. Personal Information

      • Location Data: Approximate geolocation based on your IP address (using Google Analytics)
   3. Information collected when you pay for subscription services:
      • Email address
      • First and last name
      • Billing address (street, city, state, country, zip code)

2. Non-Personal Information

   1. Information required to use the Services:
      • Items that you upload to the Services
   2. Information automatically collected when you use the Services:
      • Type of device that you used to access the Services
      • Type of browser that you used to access the Services
      • Dates you accessed the Services
      • Session replay data to help us reproduce and fix issues and understand how individuals use the Services, including recreations of your screen and where you clicked, typed and scrolled (limited to your activity on the Services only, such as mouse movements, clicks, page visits, etc. and not including collection of personal information).
      • Listening data (time listened, speed, forward and backward, skips, etc.)
   3. Information collected when you pay for subscription services:
      • Credit card number (entire number collected by our payment processor Stripe but only last 4 digits are visible to us) and expiration date

Do we collect information from minors?

We do not knowingly accept, request, or solicit information from children or knowingly market to children. Therefore, in accordance with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, if we receive actual knowledge that anyone under the age of 13 has provided personal information to us without the requisite and verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information from the Services as quickly as is reasonably practical.

Data Handling: How do we use your information?

• Converting text to audio
• Creating and maintaining user accounts
• Testing and improving the Services
• Training artificial intelligence models that are part of the Services (not applicable to Plus subscribers)
• Emailing marketing materials or newsletters
• Generating aggregate, non-identifying information about how people use the Services
• Detecting, investigating and preventing activities that may violate our policies or that may be illegal
• Advertising relevant products to you, either through our advertising platform or a third-party service provider
• Processing subscription payments (via our payment processor Stripe)

Will your information be shared with anyone?

• Service providers: We may share your information with third parties that perform services for us or on our behalf, including but not limited to hosting services, data analysis, email delivery, advertising vendors and networks, session replay technology providers, and payment processors (e.g., DataDog, MixPanel, Google Analytics, AWS, Stripe, Microsoft Clarity).
• Marketing services: With your consent, or with an opportunity for you to withdraw consent, we may use or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes, as permitted by law.
• Legal purposes: We may be required to release information for legal purposes, such as court orders, subpoenas, warrants, etc.
• As a result of a change in ownership: we may share or transfer information in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy. This Privacy Policy will apply to your personal information that is shared with (before and after the close of any transaction) or transferred to the new entity.

How long do we keep your information?

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting or other legal requirements). No purpose in this policy will require us keeping your personal information for longer than the period of time in which users have an account with us.

How do we keep your information safe?

We and our third-party data storage vendors have implemented security measures designed to protect your information from authorized access, including encryption (all data is encrypted at rest and during transmission). Please remember that no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information, but we will take all legally required and reasonable precautions to protect your information.

No, we do not sell any of your information.

What are my rights regarding the use of my personal information?

You may opt-out of receiving marketing communications or newsletters by using the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email you received. You may also receive service-related email announcements on rare occasions (for example, when we update this Privacy Policy), and you cannot opt-out of receiving these communications. If you have created a user account, you may delete your account.

Please be advised the Services are hosted in the United States. If you access the Services from any other region of the world with laws or other requirements governing personal data collection, use, or disclosure that differ from applicable laws in the United States, then through your continued use of the Services, you are transferring your data to the United States, and you agree to have your data transferred to and processed in the United States.

In some locations, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we collect from you, change that information, or delete it.
