Paper2Audio comparison reviews

Reviews from users who chose Paper2Audio instead of other text to speech reader apps.

What our users say

Best TTS Reader! And I don’t mean simply in the realm of free readers. Your app has been a game changer for me in my comprehension of academically difficult papers! Listening to them and then going back and reading them helps me to internalize the content in a way I’ve never before been able. I tried the same paper on some other top-rated apps (Speechify, Natural Reader, Eleven Reader) and they all garbled the scanned PDF I submitted. The nice thing about Paper2Audio is that the uploaded document is reformatted by their engine to optimize compatibility with their AI reader software.

I spent an entire day searching for a free text‑to‑speech app after nearly committing to a paid ElevenReader subscription. Finding Paper2Audio felt like striking gold — not only is it completely free, but it also allows unlimited file imports. As someone who struggles with solo reading, having my documents, books, and articles read aloud in clear, natural voices has been a game‑changer. The interface is simple, the playback quality is great for long listening sessions, and it handles different file types effortlessly. If you value accessibility, or just want a smooth, hands‑free way to consume content, I can’t recommend Paper2Audio enough.

I’ve looked at competitors like Speechify, Zotero and RemNote. They all have their advantages as applications, but all struggle with the formatting of technical text. Reading books with equations and complex formatting is a much better experience here. The free tier is also very generous.

The best, free app out there by far! I've been using NaturalReader and Speechify for so many years. The updates ruined the apps that I grew to love. I found the suggestion of Paper2Audio on reddit and I can't believe I never found it sooner. It's perfect and reasonably priced. You can get more than what you need on the free version.

My work entails a lot of reading and I have to keep reading even when it's not fun anymore. I've also tried a bunch of TTS readers but among the ones I tried, Paper2Audio is the most generous, the best for academic reading with graphs and footnotes, voices that aren't robotic, and I appreciate the new UI wherein I can bookmark a paragraph with just one press so it's perfect for even when I'm commuting. I appreciate that I can export the quotes so easily and also get to chat with the text.

Best in the market. Fixes typos and other PDF parsing errors, moves around figures, summarizes plots, AND THEY HAVE AN RSS FEED FOR PODCASTS. I've tried all the alternatives like Speechify, Eleven Labs, NaturalReader, etc. This app, hands down, beats all of them.
